I created a site-specific video installation for 77 W Wacker centered on Garvey Ct, a shaded north–south plaza that appears public but is often blocked by barricades. Its absence from Google Street View highlights the privatization of the space. In response, I built a large floral structure from chicken wire, wood, and exposed wiring that suggests a barrier. An animation of slowly blooming flowers is projected onto the ground, inviting people in and contrasting the softness of the florals with the building’s intimidating presence.
