How will I live my life knowing that, one day, I will die?
Jacqueline DeWitt is a visual artist and designer. She is developing skills in set design, creating narrative spaces that invite reflection on the one life we are given. Her practice combines still life and performance to explore the female relationship with mortality. She works with florals, fabrics, lighting, props, shadow, sound, and tablescapes.
Jacqueline earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois in 2020. She subsequently worked as an Art Director at Chicago-based creative agencies for five years, specializing in brand identities and editorial design.
She is currently pursuing an MFA in Visual Communication Design at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she also works as a Teaching Assistant. Her current research explores the range of female lifestyles, from tendencies of mass-consumption to servitude in Catholic convents. Jacqueline’s thesis exhibition, Invented Women, will be on view at SAIC Galleries this May.
